This week when I visited my sit spot I met a group of birds including a friendly woodpecker that hopped about a branch near me. I was able to get a video of it hopping about eating bugs. I was amazed to be so close. I walked about my sit spot area and found the two large puffballs...dead and past their season. But now the spores will be dispersed about the yard and more puffballs will emerge perhaps after the next big rain. I have to admit that my sit spot is less than I'd desire it to be, but nevertheless, I am thankful to have a small patch of woods to conveniently connect with nature from home. My most favorite place to connect with nature is at Abrams Creek Campground up the road three miles. If I can't make peace with my current backyard sit spot, I'm seriously considering making my sit spot at Abram's Creek, since I get there on average once per week and that's about how often I can get to my sit spot right now. So, we'll see how things go at home first. It is really best to have a convenient sit spot that's a short easy walk right into one's backyard and that's why I don't want to give up just yet.
Speaking of Abram's Creek, I'm going to add my latest adventure there to this blog. Rochelle and I went twice over the weekend and I took loads of photographs and videos again. It's the one place I can go to around here without fear of stepping on a cranky neighbor's private property. I can go for miles and be in the wilderness. I just love this place and I feel at home away from home!
