Sensory Awareness: Deer Ears
About Deer Ears
When we use the phrase "Deer Ears" in the Nature Connections course, we mean practicing with our own human ears to learn to hear acutely, similar to how a deer hears. You can practice your "deer ears" each time you visit your Sit Spot or anywhere you happen to be. To attune your ears, you can begin by cupping your hands behind your ears to listen for sounds better. As you practice listening for sounds at varying distances, you will improve your sense of hearing sounds wherever you are, whether at your Sit Spot, in the woods, in the city or even in your own house.
